I don't have any pictures today but the serial number is E 336892. It was bought in 1986 new. Bridge is set right in guitar body and is not set from the back of the guitar. Not sure where it was made or its value.

Your description is way to vague for us to even guess. What do you mean , bridge is set in body not from the back? Pictures needed!

Yep. That's a smith strat, 2 pots, and a pickguard mounted jack. Yuck.

Serial number means it's an 83 or 84.

Na the ones known as the Smith strats are the 81' to 83' and they had the two tone pots on them. No freeflyte either.

'Zactly. People often mis-identify the one Orville pictured as a Dan Smith Strat, but in fact it is "officially" known as the Standard Strat Second Version.

It stayed in production little over a year. Not popular!

Interesting, though...

Yes, that Freeflyte trem system is interesting. I wonder why it was abandoned after the buyout. A lot of money must have been invested in designing and producing that new trem system. I don't know if lack of popularity or poor design or economy killed it (it might have been cheaper for the new company to bring back the original style trem instead of continuing on with the Freeflyte).
