I just bought a MIM Strat Standard and put new strings on it .010s then I noticed the bridge coming up out of the body while tuning it up, when I tune it back down the bridge goes back down into the body. What am I doing wrong? Or is it normal to have the bridge halfway out? :?

I think they come with 9's stock, so the bigger strings will have more tension, so you'll need to add some springs to the tremolo block, or screw the trem claw in somemore.

Welcome to the Forum.

Going from the stock 9's up to 10's you will need to have/do a complete setup on the guitar.

If you want to attempt to do this yourself here is Fender's Setup Guide: http://www.fender.com/support/stratocaster.php

Yeah, you want to play with the claw that the trem springs connect to in the back control cavity. THere are two screws that go in to the body, pointing at the neck. If the bridge is raised too high you want to tighten the two screws which will pull it back down. You loosen them to get it to angle up. I usually do 1/2 turn of each screw at a time, then retune so the strings are at proper tension and check the bridge angle again. Repeat in small increments until you get it level. Again, one of the keys is to retune each time (which is a pain) because you want the strings to have their proper pull.
