i was watching the Buddy Holly story last nite (love the movie)...I noticed that the guitars were a 69 strat, 70s telecaster, and a single pickup style 60s mustang with rosewood board....
wonder why they didn't get period correct guitars :D :P

In my friend's school production of "Grease" the guitarist was playing an Ibanez RG, complete with floyd rose. I thought it looked really goofy for someone dressed up like it was 1950 something to be playing what was obviously an '80s metal guitar, but no one else seemed to notice.

tfunk it might of had something to do with the actors playing all the songs themselves. That is them in the movie. I know Gary Busey bought Hollys acoustic for something like 200 grand and owns it till this day. I thought they sounded great in the film.

It's Hollywood. They're not known for accuracy. Even with historical films.

"The Buddy Holly Story" movie with Gary Busey is so inaccurate it's not funny. From the guitars to how they got their name etc as depicted in the film is wrong. For the real Buddy Holly story track done the dvd (or vhs) called "The Real Buddy Holly Story" that was produced by Paul McCartney. It's well worth it.

It must be really something, having that kind of on-hand money to 'urinate' away like that. IMO; YMMV.

Ditto for the guitars used in "La Bamba"!
