Hey everybody,

Just purchased Callaham American Deluxe upgrade kit and noticed two saddle springs are smaller than the others. Has to do with string thickness or what? I guess I'm missing something- haven't noticed something like that in my guitars because I've never had to take a saddle apart.

Thanks.

They're for the Low E and A strings. When intonated correctly those saddles will be closer to the bridge flange and will therefore not require as long a spring. If you put a regular size spring in there it may become bunched up when the saddle is moved back.

Hi daicomo: the shorter springs are for the saddles that intonate furthest back, the bottom E and A strings. Depending on your strings you might have to move them so far back they come close to the back plate on the bridge, so the shorter spring makes that easier.

It's normal. Proceed with your setup with a clear mind.

Cheers - C

EDIT: oops - written at the same time as VooDoo Blues post above. Two minds with but a single thought...
