I've recently become a hardtail stratocaster fan, mainly for the tuning stability.
Anybody else strictly a hardtail fan?

I'm a hard tail fan... saves me the trouble of answering the age old question of back cover on or off.

I had an American Standard Hardtail for a short period. Didn't bond with it at all so I traded it for a Classic Players 60

Sure, go Hard Tail, but then you have to answer the question of string-thru-body or top-loading!

If your trem is blocked does that count? I need to get a bumper sticker that says my "other guitar is a hardtail."

No blocked vibratos, I'm talking full on hardtail, with all the wood in tact :)

Don't get me wrong, teles are great, but IMO strats are more comfortable...

Ok orville, you've piqued my curiosity, what is top-loading?

Toploading is where the Guitar is strung the bridge and not through the back like a tele

Hard tail should be an option, just like maple or rosewood fretboard, and not only on premium priced artist series models (Billy Corgan)! I don't know many people that actually use the trem. I know I have the bridge set against the body, I keep the back cover off and 5 springs on the block and thats the way I like it.

However there are many traditionalists out there that would say a strat must have a trem for it to be a true strat. There are also those that have to have a trem for the sake of doing a few dive bombs when the first get the guitar home.

I'd buy a hardtail anyday!

I was put off Strats, because of the tremolo, for years, until I realised the sound I was always after was only in a Strat... glad I'm back, but I'd have a hard tail every time if possible.

Truth. Hardtail should be an option. I don't use the term ever. The only time the bar is even on is for photo shoots, otherwise duct tape is on the hole.

Hey Yogi, did you leave out the word "through"?

Does anyone have a picture or something, I can't figure out how you'd do this.

Is there a retro-fit bridge that can hard-tail a Strat?

I imagine, if there is, it would be an ugly thing, but interesting to know.

I get the string-through-body set-up, but the top loading thing is puzzling me.
