Was wondering if any of you have a Classic 50's Strat and in what color. How do you like it? Do you like the soft-V neck? I think that neck has got some meat to it if memory serves me correctly.

Classic 50s?

My musical collaborator has one, and I like it a lot. It's in Sonic (rather than Daphne) Blue I think. The pickups are quite trebly. The neck is a comfortable handful, but I recall it being a standard C shape rather than V.. could be mistaken on that.

He bought it after playing my Classic 60s which he loved (as do I), but the 2 sound very different.

I think the 50s has the smaller radius (7.25"?) It certainly chokes out on bigger bends...

The spec for the Classic 50s & the Classic Players 50s both list a "soft v" neck.

The radius on the Classic 50s Series is 7.25 with vintage frets.

The radius on the Classic Players 50s is 9.5 with med-jumbo frets.

I have the Classic Players 50s in 2-tone burst and I love it. The neck is meaty but very comfortable. I love the med-jumbo frets and I have no issues with bending. I like the pickups, but I might opt for vintage noiseless at some point. Overall I think it is a very nice guitar, and the quality on mine is fantastic. I would not part with it.

i playes the MIM classic 50's strat and really really really want one the MIM in shoreline gold. I love the V neck personally, but everyone has a difference preference. For me it just plays really fast and smooth.

Are you talking about the MIA or MIM 50's Strat? I've played both and dig them both.

If you're looking for a classic series, you should check craigslist.

There are 2 in my area.

A 2-tone burst with hardshell case for 450.

A daphne blue with hardshell case for 440.

Both claim mint condition and are decent deals considering a new one is 750 withouth the hard case.

The MIM Classic 50's Strat. There is no equivalent MIA version. If I get one I'm gonna upgrade it a little. I'm gonna put in Wide/High frets and Dimarzio's and a Callaham Bridge/Block. It should be great when I'm done with it and I absolutely love Daphne Blue with a tinted maple neck and the vintage 8-hole pickguard.

the MIM is a sweet sweet Strat...the V neck I really like it. I'm saving for one myself. You'll like it I think!

I have a Classic Series 50s Strat in Surf Green. It's a good guitar for the money and I liked everything about mine except the pickups. I lived with the stock pickups for six months and swapped them out for a set of SCNs. Now it's a very nice guitar.

It's easy to confuse the Classic with the Classic Player series. The Classic Player Strats are more expensive and have features like beefier necks and Custom Shop pickups. It's the Classic Series that has all the cool vintage colors and Surf Green is my favorite. :)

I have a 2002 Classic series 50s Strat in Daphne Blue. The neck is a soft V and does have some heft to it, but it is not too big. the overall guitar is pretty nice. The stock pickups are vintage alnico units with vintage(low) output, which i kinda like. it goes along with the whole vintage vibe. There are plenty of guitars with hot pickups stock, so you buy this one for what it is, a replica of a 1950s model(around 1957 I believe). They were not generally considered hot by todays standards.
I like the nice clean sound, with lots of shimmer and good treble response. Good for clean work, or very slight overdrive. NOT good for distortion or de-tuning. A cool axe with a nice sound, and a neck that takes some getting used to, but also nice.ImageImage

I like your whole setup! Is that a Egnater rebel on the right? Love the color of your guitar and what's not to like about the amp it's leaning on. Cool! 8)

Thanks, Hop.

Yep, that is an Egnater Rebel. Great little amp! The '65 Twin Custom 15 Reissue satisfies my needs for organic Fender clean tones but I wanted a light, small amp with some grit. The Rebel sounds amazing with the Gain turned up and it's capable of producing some really nice cleans, too. It's the most versatile amp I have ever owned and it's an excellent complement to the Twin.

It's easy to move, too.
