One good way to remove sticker or tape residue is the eraser on pencil. Just rub the sticker reside with the eraser as if you were erasing a mistake on a test. Then when it's gone just use a bit of guitar polish to shine the area back up.

I got good results with lighter fluid and also wd40 (especialy on plastic parts).

I know people are going to jump on wd40 with all the 'It should never go anywhere near a guitar' statements. I've never had a bad result by using it for such in 20 odd years. Caution and care are of paramount importance whatever substance you decide to use.

With either just peel off the sticker as best you can, douse the remainder in whatever you decide to use. Leave it to go kind of clear then clean it off with a paper towel.

I just use a little fretboard oil. I happen to use the Planet Waves Hydrate oil in the little pump sprayer. Works great.

Hello,

I just recently changed the strings on this Strat that was covered with stickers (argh) and I had to remove some on the back because I needed to open the back plate. Now the back has some residue on it and I was wondering what would be safe to use to remove it without totally screwing up the finish. I tried some warm soapy water, but it really didn't do much. I thought about acetone, but I'm not sure if that would be safe. I thought I'd ask around here just to be sure.

Thanks for any help.

Paul

MIM strat's don't use Nitro finishes, use some "Goo Gone". It will take it off and leave the finish in tact...
