Put it this way, a strat will never argue with you or leave you.

Much like a joke I heard...

Whats the difference between leaving your mother in law in the trunk of your car for an hour, and likewise with your dog?

Your dog is allways happy to see you

Seriously

You'll enjoy your guitar far more with a happy woman. I've tried everything. Bought her numerous stuff, day spa's, expensive manicures, pedicures, to counteract my guitar buying tendencies.
In the end, fingernails dont last yet guitars remain. The typical spouse mind operates in the here and now. They dont care about cost thrown away on something that grows for free, or old clocks, or expensive beds and sofa's. A big TV matters nothing, I even offered to employ cheap labour in exchange for a masterbuilt strat. The offer fell on deaf ears.

I think women just get offended with guitars hanging around. I'm sure they would accept em, if you could grow a load of arms and play em all at the same time like Vishnu.

The question is, will you be able to enjoy it if she goes ballistic as it will surely become symbolic of her ire? Remember too that oftentimes, women see a guitar, especially multiple ones as not only useless but as their competition, akin to a mistress; and then there's the whole priority of household finances thing. Further, 'technically' you'll owe her something which you'll probably not want to lay out serious money for in a million years. I'm not trying to bum you out here but these are points to consider.

You may only suffer 1-6 months of wrath.............but the good side is..........you can have that guitar for life!

It comes down to the othr. My wife is a musician as well. She has a number of Basses, keyboards and violins. So she doesn't mind when I drop some money on guitars, because I know eventually she's gonna buy a couple thousand dollar workstation or JagBass or whatever. Though I was geeked to buy her a Fender electric violin a few years ago. Until that point somehow I had no clue Fender made violins.
