I chose a Telecaster as my frist guitar becasue of how good and perfect it felt for me, but I'm sure you aren't the only one who doesn't really like them.

I'll have you know sir that there happens to be something wrong with my body shape! I am stricken with a condition referred to as "25 Pounds Overweight" A serious medical condition which requires the elimination of Ice Cream from my diet. You should be more compassionate my friend. What if you could not eat Ice Cream. LOL (very cute)

I love playing many different guitars, and the Strat & Tele are certainly 2 of my favorites.

I just wanted to add 2 more cents if I may. I played Tele's for a long time before I ever played a Strat. Just like a new car...the change to Strat took a little getting used to. I could not get through an entire song without inadvertently changing pickup positions. My natural "Rock Star" playing style (lol) had me regularly running into that pickup position changing switch. The worst was hitting it just enough to set it between positions. This made for a less than desirable tone.

That has long since gone away and I never run into that little bugger anymore, unless I want to.

Play whatever you love...play what looks best to you, and what feels best to you, and what sounds best to you. Don't play something because someone else does. Fall in love with what you play. That is the single greatest way to improve your playing!

I have a 72' Tele Reissue and it is as comfortable as any strat in my collection.

As has been already mentioned the American Deluxe Tele has the contoured belly relief on the back of the guitar and even though the top is not contoured that belly relief brings the corner normally in contact with your right arm much closer to the body making it feel much better and it also angles the guitar a little out on the bottom like a Strat which further adds to the comfort. It's a very comfortable Tele by comparison.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I have an Am Dlx strat, and a squier classic vibe tele ( Awesome awesome guitar).

Certainly the strat is suited to some songs moreso than the tele, and vice versa, but aside from being a bit heavier, i have no problems playing the tele. in fact, the maple neck on my particular tele is as buttery as my rosewood strat neck.

each to their own i say, but certainly you cannot difinitevely say that a strat is better than a tele for comfort. its all about personal choice and opinion.

I regret to say I too suffer from this terrible affliction.. And it was bought sharply into focus when I acquired my first Tele last month. After many years playing Strats..

I don't actually think its the bulge of my stomach - rather it could be a case of my arms not being long enough for Telecaster land..

If you like the neck you can always buy a custom body from Warmoth and put your neck in it. They do full contour bodies just like on a strat but for the tele. You could also chose the chambered option with f-hole if thats your thang.

if you think a Telecaster is uncomfortable then how do you feel about playing a dreadnought acoustic guitar?
