I have seen some gorgeous Fender Custom Shop Relic, but i wonder, does any of you guys have some old strats that i've been worn by you, after crazy gigs, years and years of playing?

I bought a 07 Highway One who have been a bit worn by the previous owner, and now several dents that i have been done by me being clumsy, but i don't think this guitar will look like any of those CS Heavy Relics that i've seen.

Well if you do have some old beated up strats, please post a picture!

:D

used to have a naturaly closet classic'd strat, then i decided to refinish it and ended up ruining it.

Just on the verge of going south, depspite its thick polyester finish. The neck has relic'd up nicely in a very short space of time (1year since the previous photo, 14years from new). Its on this body now. Cigarette burn was intentional.

not yet, but working on it with my first Telecaster. I thought about buying a relic guitar but at the end of the day I just can't do it, it seems like cheating!

I am working on it but this polyester finish on one guitar and polyurethane on the other seems undistructible. I don't think that any wear other than accidental dings are going to show up.

Next is to attach the guitar to the chain and the back of a car and drive aroud the block few times. That will do

My Jaguar has seen better days. Still plays great but it has a lot of nicks and scratches. 13 years of rough playing. I have a LP copy that I sanded the finish off the neck. Feels soooo much better now. I sanded down a part of the top because someone carved some stupid stuff on it and I wanted to get rid of it. That guitar is most likely from the 70s.

Nowadays, the guitars I buy new I try my very best to keep in showroom condition. I bought a brand new Gibson Explorer on 4/6/08 and it has one tiny indent on the back about the size of the eye of a needle. My 2001 Am std strat has only slight color disfiguration for whatever reason. Olympic white turned creme/green on the back body contour. No scratches. My 1989 strat plus has noticable wear on the fret board and the back of the body has some buckly rash but not through the finish. I baby that one. It is as the day on bought it on 4/26/99.

Hehehe nice. Nothing beats a worn guitar with history! Sure, those CS heavy relics look awsome, i'm even jaleous that i will probably never be able to afford one. But i wish i could have one of mine worn nicely.

Hi, Jaqueline. I'm old enough to have bought a 60's Strat new. I still have my '65 and I still love it. It's mostly home and dumb kid with belt buckle worn and it turns 44 next month.

It's not quite as worn as this Strummer Tele. :)

That '65 Strat sure is pretty,I made the mistake of getting mine refinished in '77,bad move(and costly). My '65 Jaguar is beautifully aged and a previous owner must have used a hubcap for a beltbuckle it's so gouged out.

Thanks, Hop.

The '65 Strat and the '65 Twin Custom 15 Reissue should have been enough but we all know about the power of G.A.S. It started with MIM Strats four and a half years ago, spread to an American Standard, VG, Clapton, American Deluxe Ash and finally stopped with a Custom Shop '56 NOS. Or did it? Probably not.

Hahaha wow, gorgeous strat, i can't believe that i'm half the age of you guitar haha! I guess i'll have to wait 42 years before my 07 Highway one starts to look like yours! Haha!

So that's why so many people buy CS Heavy relics, it's impossible to get that worn look, even after 44 years, it's still look likes it's in great condition.
