I have a 2008 MIA standard, however i have noticed that my B string is a little quieter then the rest.....not bad, but enough to throw me off a bit when listening. I like the string height and don't want it noticably lower then the rest. it's almost like the staggered pole piece has been lowered just a hair too much making response a bit weak. it's not flush with the pickup cover, actually a hair below level. Any suggestions on solutions that don't require new pickups?

I'm a bit of a purest, so i like to keep things stock (love the standard pickups too), but if this drives me nuts i'm thinking about some lace sensors. anything to try first? I do all my own setups, but i'm a bit stumped on this one.

Is this a new guitar to you? Check the string. Maybe it's partially broken near the tuner. That happened to me once.

new since Feb-March, 3rd set of strings, all did it, not as bad on the stock Fender bullets, but i'm not sure if i was just getting used to the tone. still did it though......very noticable with the ernie ball's i've always used on my collection of Jacksons.

brings a good question though....i've always used ernie ball's cause they sound awesome on Jacksons......what do you guys recommend for strats?

Been playing about 14 years and have pretty much always been with ernie balls with the occasional DR, elixers, and a d'addario once or twice. I've been shaping my tone towards a gilmourish sound, but always use 9's. Is it time for 10's? Gilmour strings? more fender bullets?

playing through a modeling amp using either the Hiwatt model, roland jazz model, or mesa triple rec if that helps (Line 6 Flextone III)

Did you notice that B string is quieter in all pickup positions. Maybe try to raise pickups if that doesn't work maybe adjust a B saddle a bit. Bringin a saddle just a 1/2 turn on my AmStd makes a big difference. Of course make sure that you still have a decent radius and you will have to intonate.

Hope that helps

again i like the saddle height right now, don't want to mess with string heights because of how much i like it....i guess small adjustments wont hurt, i'll give it a shot.

occurs only on the staggered single coils, the humbucker in the rear is fine

You can push the polepiece up to suit your requirements from the bottom of the pickup. Yes, this involves removing the pickguard.

okay, that was the option i think i was looking for....i like the string radius, and i'm about as low as low can go. I'll pop the hood and check it out over the weekend. I've been working on guitars for years so hopefully this shouldn't be a problem. Every guitar i've owned since i started doing my own setups has had humbuckers with adjustable pole using a flathead screwdriver. staggered single coils are new to me.
