I think they cancelled the release for these guitars. Or at least I hope so.

Get the American VIntage. Why pay for a Mayer signature model?

His strat as in Mayers? It's just a Strat...the fact that it is his means nothing...unless you are a fanatic of his...and if so i do apologize.

if you are using your like for mayer as the driving force behind getting the guitar, i say dont get it and buy a better guitar for less money without the name. have it or relic it yourself through hours of play. Turn it into a "Reynolds" sig model. I just can't see dropping that much money for a mayer sig model.

i mean i understand that you like him, he's a good guitarist and if he inspires you thats good, but paying the extra dough for a guitar with just his name on it...think of the other things you could be putting that money on...WHILE playing your guitar and having it reliced naturally by hours of hard work. Good luck and happy strumming!

If that's what you're into and you dig his sound, I say buy it. The alternative to buying a sig model is buying the components and putting one together on your own. Last I checked, you weren't able to buy the big dipper pickups by themselves. You may be able to find them online on ebay or something, but the rarity of it just makes me believe there is more reason to hike the price of them...supply and demand. Assuming this, then I don't think you'd be saving as much money as one would think.. by buying a good guitar and having to pay an inflated price for pickups to put in it. You could always downgrade the quality of other components of the guitar to make it more cost effective, but I don't see any fun in that 8) . You should have a guitar that motivates you to play.. whether it's a squire or a 10k custome shop guitar, you should look at your guitar and say "i wanna play that thing right now". If " The Black One" can motivate you like that, I say buy it.

I dont see the big deal in buying an artist model instead of a regular production model. Its a very snobbish attitude to completely avoid them simply because they have someones name on them.

If its a good guitar, why not?

PS we all play Leo Fender

On the flip side, why buy a model simply because it HAS an artists name on it? It's a very snobbish and fanatical attitude to buy one simply because it has someones name on it.

There's really no need to get upset and act like someone is being snobbish. I'm giving my opinion just like you are. I agree if it is a good guitar buy it. The artist name alone doesn't make it a good guitar though. happy strumming either way.

JM's first Strat was an SRV sig model. I'm sure he bought it because he loved SRV and it was a great guitar.

Buy the guitar that you love, for whatever reason you love it.

John's first strat was not the SRV.
