It looks like we were both wrong mate. Its entirely probable that gibson use a 1" cap. The Xaviere guitars proporte to use a 3/4" cap.

Sorry about that mate.

Hi Nik, You no even My Epi LP Custom Plus has a very thick Maple cap on it. I get around to it I will have to look better in the trunk but I guessing from last look it could be 1" . It does weight alot though and it took some looking to find the Custom Plus Version from 04' because it has a flame maple neck as well where as the newer ones do not their mahogany like the others.

I suppose the cap must be the thickness from the apex of the carve to just below the binding????

Heavy as hell in a handbag. Mike Eldred allured to masterbuilders prefering guitars on the heavy side. Maybe I should maple cap my tele? I reckon I could add a few more pounds to it. That weighs just less than your LP at 10ibs from what my blurry memory can drag up.

Niki I think you're right. The top might have been an inch thick before they strated carving it to shape so it's thicker in the middle then at the edge. Next time I have to go into the control cavity I'll try to measure how far till the change in wood. But on the edge it's definetly all mahogany up to the binding.

Its Vyvyan from the young ones. It may not cross the atlantic all that well, but it was the spearpoint of alternative comedy coming to the forefront in England.

12B Knows all about it, a man of distinctive tastes there.

Very typical of the series, sans the comic violence.

Heres a episode from the later and better series they did with the violence.

The way the weathers going I'll be innundated with penguins soon.

I guess some people like to take cheap guitars and mod,mod and mod them. Not my thing. I'll just stick with quality made Fenders. Yes, I'm narrow minded when it comes to guitars! :)

Each to his own liking as I always say.

It's a disease, Hop. I watched people do it a few times and then found out it wasn't that hard to mod stuff. I compare it to cars in a way.

Wanna buy a sedan with a Hurst floor shifter and Hemi :)
