I have a question about a color on an american standard stratocaster. It is like a deep, dark metalilc purple, but there is no such color listed on fender's color chart. They have a burgandy mist metallic #66 I believe, but it actually looks like a lighter purple on the fender chart. The stratocaster has serial of N9 ******, which should be 1999 or maybe early 2000. One off color maybe? Special run? Color chart pic of burgandy mist metallic is too light in the fender chart photo? Has anyone else here seen this mystery dark metallic purple on an american standard stratocaster body?

help!

thanks a bunch

Hello Hotrod128z,

Give Fender customer service a call,
give them the serial number and they
may be able to tell you the color name.

Cheers.

Hi hotrod, the color is "Purple Metallic".
Fender only offered it in 1998 and 1999 on Am. Std. guitars and basses.
At that time, I saw a Strat and Tele in that color at my local Fender dealer.
I asked if they could order a left-handed Strat in that color, and they told me to order it soon because Fender was discontinuing that color.
So I ordered it. :D

Because of the metallic in the paint, it seems to change colors in different lighting.

Thanks a bunch, that looks pretty much like it spot on. Pretty cool that this one is a limited 2 year color. This one has a rosewood fretboard and is very intrigueing. It just has a quality that I can't explain, just kinda jumps out a grabs you.

That is really a beautiful color whatever it's called. I was going to guess purple metallic.
