If your guitar is big and the women scream when you play it why not name it "Big John" or "Holmes"? LOL!

I keep it simple. The Stagemaster, The Strat, The Ovation. And then there is "Celeste". I wasn't going to call it "The Esteban", and she doesn't play like an Esteban anymore after a bit of work.

It all depends. People name their pets for certain reasons, think about guitars the same way. They're usually named after someone, either real or from a movie or cartoon. Or, it's some play on the name.

Red guitar might be something to do with red, like Lucy or something.

My strat is very sexy to me, so I named it Jenna (after a certain "star" with the last name of Haze). My Taylor is very smooth and sophisticated, so it got named Beasley. Kind of silly, but it is - what it is.

Or Jameson?

I have two guitars right now and only one is named. That's a 1955 Les Paul Junior that i bought back in 1977. It had been pretty badly used and abused. Someone had chopped out the upper bout to make it a double cutaway, drilled holes in the front between the V & T pots, and gouged out a hole under the neck for a humbucker that was never placed. But it played great with it's huge base ball bat neck. I slapped some duct tape over the hole & played that guitar all through my punk rock days, local clubs, halls, bars, recording studios, etc... It also got loaned out alot as it became something of desired guitar amongst my friends in other bands at the time. I'd have to track her down at times, and I came to think of her as The *hore of Babylon as she slept with anyone during a time of great debauchery, black-out drunkeness, and drugged incomprehension. Think of the movie "Trainspotting" with bands. She's still with me and I play her now and then. She's gotten a bit of a make-over from a loclal luthier friend so some of the battle scars are diminished. Her name has been shortened by use to Babylon now and she no longer sleeps around - but I remember very well what she's capable of.
