I've got an 07 Hwy 1 Strat and I was wondering if the pickup cavities are shielded. I've noticed the noise is quite a bit louder on it than my Tele that I shielded myself.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

Can't be all that great a shielding job. As I mentioned, the noise is quite bad from mine. When I'm playing at home I usually have a "sweet spot" where if I play while holding the guitar in a particular direction the noise goes away.

They use that black shielding paint. They use a small screw into the control area routing and a connection wire from the pickguard to connect that shielding paint to the ground. I suppose it's possible that the connection is bad on your guitar. You could try to test it using a multimeter, but you might have to scrape some other paint or clear coat off of the shielding paint.
