Has anyone ever had to special order a Fender guitar? Store was out of stock, so I placed a special order for a MIM strat 3 months ago and I'm still waiting. Never thought it would take this long.

Where do you live?

I haven't been in a shop yet that hasn't has at least one Standard Strat, usually black, s-s-s config and priced from 399-499. with gigbag.

I don't know the circumstances you ordered it under,
but around these parts 7 days is the max waiting time
for a store to get a guitar, usually much quicker.

Online ordering, is another option & youl'll have it in
less than week. The big guys let you send it back if it's
not satisfactory.

I'm in Canada. They originally sent me a new 2004 model sunburst. I wasn't happy with that so I sent it back and asked for a recent model. They didn't have any newer ones so I asked them to order a new 2009 from the Fender factory in California. They initially told me it would take 6-8 weeks. It's now been 12 weeks. I called them last week and they said it can take up to 3 months to special order depending on Fender stock.

Are we talking a normal MIM Std sunburst here? Or some other model?

I'm in eastern Canada (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) and when I ordered my Strat I was told it could be up to three weeks. Got it in a week! Can't get much farther away from Corona without gettin' wet and it only took seven days. Don't know what the problem is where you are.

Hey Donmac, I am from sussex ,new brunswick, and dartmouth n.s .
I never had a problem like this either. Music Stop always had them in stock or special ordered them in a week. Even here in cow town , it usually only takes 7-10 days to get what you want.
