So it won't counteract the string pressure on the neck joint, rather than act to aid it? I've always stored my knock around guitars standing in a corner face in. Just through thinking about it logicaly, I'd want something to be relieving the stringpull on the neckjoint. I always thought that hanging would acheive the same thing.

The 'weight', or pull, exerted by the strings is massive... so leaning the guitar against a wall or hanging it isn't going to do anything to counteract those sort of forces.

The main reason why people keep their guitars in a case is to protect them from extremes of temperature and humidity, which can warp the wood.

Here in the UK, if you hang your guitar, obviously not above a radiator, I can't see climatic extremes being an issue. So hanging's okay, but not really for the reasons you mention.

I always keep mine in cases and the only time they get shown off is playing at a gig.

I wouldn't invite unwanted guest into your home by hanging them up nor even putting photo's up on the wall.

In my music room I store all my high end Strats in secret areas but I leave out the only two Squiers I have so that they get taken first...the least worst Case Scenario.

I hang all the guitars I have room for....but only on interior walls within the house....which is temp and humidity controlled all year around. I play them all more when I can get to them easily.

veryslowhand

Its about 150 lbs of pressure spread out across the length of the strings on a set of 10's. That if you consider the area around the neck joint is on a generous estimate around 80lbs acting on that area. The rest of the pressure being displaced into the trussrod, bridge and tuners.

I still dont buy that there is no benefit to leaning the guitar face in. Simple reasoning says that allieviating a problem by however miniscule an amount is still of some benefit. Though I can see your point. Take my telecaster, a 10.5lb beast of a guitar. The 80lb (estimated) amount of pressure on the neck joint is allieviated by 10 lbs by gravity, bringing it to 70lb (estimated) . That may not be that much in your book. I happen to think any aid is worthwhile though.
Not looking for a row, just explaining my reasoning.
