The general consensus is that small vintage frets are in fact harder to bend on especially if you are using a 7.25 radius neck...

Not really. "Consensus" means unanimous agreement. Even from some posts on this thread, let alone all the others on this subject, it is clear there is no general agreement on this.

Many find they can bend just as well on "vintage" spec necks. Including me.

Cheers - C

I shouldn't have wrote consensus. But rather a large majority instead. Even at the Duncan forum most players prefer larger frets for ease of bending.

Fret size and radius matter one one tot on bending with a well setup guitar.

I like my frets on the tall side.

I don't care if they are wide or narrow, as long as they are tall enough and nicely crowned.

I'm thinking I might like playing on a scallopped neck.

Good enough, they can be replaced with no too much harm.
Cheers!

The vintage frets on a small radius call for a slightly higher action, but for me that means you can almost get 'under' the string and bend it just as easily. Just takes a different approach and dare I say a little more finesse – perhaps less aggression, but no less fluidity. A higher action feels somehow more 'springy' to me... as if you've got lighter strings.... and it kind of makes my fingers feel more springy too – which I like.

Dunno if that makes sense to anyone? Or am I just rambling? :)

I have a Les paul with the fretless wonder frets, and an Ibanez with jumbo frets, and others in between--and I have no preference.

Although if I was making a guitar I'd probably go with medium frets to split the difference.

I really like standard C shape of the modern Strats. I also like the shape of my '07 SG, it's a little thicker. I do prefer a 12" radius over Fenders'
9 1\2". Even though both of my Strats have Jumbos on them I like the medium\jumbos better. I'm so used to my guitars that I'm comfortable with them. When I need a fret dress on the Strats I'm going to have him take a little more than usual off the top.
