a Dakota red strat?

It doesn't seem to be a very popular color compared to Fiesta Red and Candy Apple. So who uses Dakota?

SRV played what I think (I'm not sure) was a Dakota Red Strat on "Pride and Joy", Austin City Limits 1983. I couldn't find a picture.

Didn't Mark Knopfler play a Dakota Red Strat? Not sure myself.

Huh? Most strats sound and feel pretty close in my experience when all other things are equal (IE. comparing 09 AM STD strats with maple necks). Your color choice has to be factored in. Todays production methods do not have the wide variety of the past. Machines make things pretty precise.

However, you may be missing the boat by continuing to play the same guitars over and over just hoping the some majic one with turn up that is somehow superior to another made on the same machine

For me, I payed attention mostly to FB wood, color and wood grain figuring(sunburst) when I bought my strat, and it has delivered on sound and feel as well as any strat I have ever played...I did play it for awhile before I bought it, but ultimately, the looks were what made me buy mine. None of the others that made my cut, and one or two that did not that I played, sounded or felt much different at all. They all had maple FB's that felt identical and I could hear no sound differences

Tsk tsk jay.

we both know Strats are high quality, a guy should have no problem finding a guitar that both plays and looks how he wants. You should never have to make a trade off or compromise of quality or looks. you should be happy with both.

Oh and TGS:

Fiesta red, the undisputed king of strat colours in civilized countries. Only with maple though.
