ntresting to see, particularly the look on his face when there was pencil'd date. Intresting story about the guy writing rude words in the neck pocket. I think i'll go and mod all my guitars with that. I predict if i write bum in the neck pocket it will improve bass response. who knows it may up the value of the guitar too.

He was gentle enough taking the neck off. Its not like he went cordless on it.

Hi kineman karma: I think he was perfectly gentle in how he took the neck off. Here's how that task is sometimes accomplished:

Some would even prefer to burn the body away into just ashes to see that god damn neck stamp.

I wonder what they wrote in there. :?:
Reminds me of the guy at GM in the sixties that was writing profanities inside the panels of cars with seam sealer, never to be seen unless you're doing a restoration on a car and happen to replace that panel.

Much better to me Mike. If the neck on mine had never been taken off I certainly would not let some guy on TV do it.

I don`t hold any value to them oldies other than what a new one would cost. The whole Vintage thing to me is a bunch of BS.It won`t make you a better player or sound any better.Crazy people throwing their money around?

Wow Mike that 57 going for 50 -60K. I like what the kid wrote under the clip that that was his and he dad would never sell it and has been playing rock his whole life.As far as the first clip The guy did exactly what you do when you take off a neck dont get what got you heated. That guy has probably taken apart more vintage axes then you could imagine. And why is anyone mad that a vintage ax goes for so much it is like anything else that is old and rare. I have seen chairs on that show go for 50 grand.

well i think its the fact that its a 50 year old instrument so its an antique. you can appreciate antiques right? they (usually) cost more than a new one of what ever as well. simply because they are still around and in usable condition.remember back then there were no CNC machines or pickup winders etc.everything was done by hand.each instrument was more personal. so some are/were better than others.some were worse as well. But theres just something about old things that people are inamoured by. in this case a guitar.is it worth the money he says it is? perhaps not.but consider how many 59 strats have you ever been in a room with in your life? something is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.its supply and demand. back in the 70's fender couldnt give strats away. now look at what 70's era strats are going for these days...
"If i was rich ,you can bet damn well I would have a 59 stratocaster"

FYI: Kerry Keane, head of Christie's Musical Instrument Department, was one of the organizers of Eric Clapton's 2004 Crossroads Auction in NYC> Rest assured that he would not have removed the neck in such fashion had he thought it inappropriate to do so. He's likely the individual who set the estimate on "Blackie" for the auction.
