Dear friends, can anyone help me the the specifications of Hank Marvins stage strats?I would like to know body wood type, neck radius, profile of the back or the neck and anything else you would like to share.
It appears to me that he uses a gold american vintage six point trem with the VML mods and trem bar,and Sperzal locking tuners,he also uses a nut that sppears to be black or dark gray, maybe a Graphtech?I assume that the pick ups are Kinman "Hank Marvins"Thanks for any and all help,Help me Alain!!!Craig

Do you mean for the 50th Anniversary Cliff Richard & The Shadows Tour actually touring?

You couldn't have reached a more authoritative source. It's like asking
Marie Curie about radium.

Mine is a pittance compared to what's been around here. Badass is definitely Alain's. His involvement with HM goes well beyond devotee. I'm waiting on what he turns out for you.

On that Ebay sale....small profit that. Hardly worth the time. Hope the buyer is comfortable with his price. I probably overpaid for my Clapton on Ebay a year ago based upon vintage guitar prices I've seen quoted, but the color and condition was something I found hard to resist given what I had been seeing posted over some time. The juice has to be worth the squeeze in those circumstances. I set it against what the price for the current guitar was. It's likely the buyer of the VG wanted one and a national search found no dealer stock, so the $200 up was worth it.

Waiting on Alain now. Will save it for tomorrow.

Doc.

Ooo - didn't radium kill her?

I hope Alain's researches are a little kinder to him...

HBM has several times changed his mind (iImean within the last 18 years) regarding his namesake Strats

The basic remains an alder body painted in Fiesta Red and a birdseye neck (a must)
Sperzel locking tuners, gold harware includindga modern two points tremolo bridge,
Regarding the pick ups at one time he favoured two SD and a DiMarzio at the bridge but then changed for a long period to Kinmans HV-HMS
For the 50th Anniversary Tour after many tests he decided to fit his Strats with Fender CS 54 pick ups which were the most adequate for getting again some of his vintage sound so much praised by his Fans.
The neck is of a modern design, some kind of flatter C, wider also. If you wish I can measure the neck of one of mines.
Apart from that it's a regular Strat
He uses 2 Strats on stage one fitted with 9-42 strings, the other with 12-52 strings with a wound G for the early period tunes,
For the present tour he also uses a boutique Strat made in UK called Scotsman after the name of a local newspaper.

Hi guys on this site, greetings from New Zealand.

I agree with the type of guitars Hank and Bruce are using but have a look at the web site for Oasis Musical Instruments -

www.oasismusicalinstruments.ltd.uk

- who are in Ringwood, England. They have commissioned a Shadows 50th Anniversary strat which Hank and Bruce are using on the current tour. There is a detailed specification of this new model on this site. Cliff and The Shadows are due in New Zealand in February 2010.

Keep up the good work Fender - I have been playing your wonderful products since 1963 and still do

Well Alain, this is really your territory. What do you make of this guitar?
