Only owning strat's of the Deluxe line, I often wonder what I'm missing by not playing thru the more vintage series.

Why is it that I keep going back to or considering Deluxes?

For me; Modern

I embrace the advances in technology and improvements that have been made over the years.

...locking tuners...better saddles...C-shape necks...bigger frets...

and, in a few more years, my once modern Strat will be vintage anyways.

I like a combination. I like the 7.25 radius and the BIG headstocks, but I also like the jumbo frets and better parts.

I haven't played too many vintage Strats but I prefer my modern one over all I have played (but that might be because it's what I really learned to play on).

its a better sound overall but still fender .

Its like having a studio clean up your track without the studio but still traditional sound.

Deluxe is just less niose more presence.

The deluxes are a bit too pretty too.

I hate to play a guitar that I dont want to scratch!

Matt,

The Pro does have a 12" Radius correct? I'm pretty sure it does, either way I like the modern appointments it offers and ya'll don't be surpirsed when I post pic's of my new baby.

I'm on the fence with one right now and have been looking for players or owners with one out there. Very little has come back so I'm gonna try it for myself.

I have a vintage custom shop that is the bees knees. Gets more playing time then my Am Dlx. I can't afford real vintage what with having a mortgage and wife and four kids and three dogs and a cat.
