I'm 38, I played a punk gig with a friend's daughter's Hello Kitty squier a year and a bit ago. I was visiting a couple buddies in a city I used to live in over a decade ago.

We were bandmates in a few projects, one of which being a group that played SNFU, Dayglo, Beyond Possession etc -type covers. They wanted to do a few songs at a bar with an open mic for old times sake, so i used that guitar. Played like a dream actually. Surprisingly gutty tone on it. i guess it wasn't so much a gig as a public jam, but it sure was fun. (I restrained myself from throwing the guitar into the amps, like I used to occassionally with the old Ibanez)

Sure. I got my oldest(5yo) daughter into by getting a Hello Kitty strat, and she is progressing on her HK ministrat pretty well. If she wants something like that when she gets big enough, then by all means I'll get it for her.

Sure.

But right now, they like the Hello Kitty Squier. In a couple of years, they sure might like the Miley Cyrus Strat a lot better.

Yeah i wouldnt hesitate to buy my middle daughter a Millie Cyrus guitar, if she asked for it. Anything to get her into playing. I quite like the look of em too.

Wouldnt it be cool if there was a line of 3/4 fenders for kids? I mean there are programmes they are sponsoring for kids and all- but wouldnt it be cool to buy your kid a mini '60s classic in ocean turqois or CAR?

Maybe a tele, p-bass and other models. They are just limited to squier arent they? make them mia and Ill even bet they will become a cult icon- I bet an avri 60's tele custom mini will become collectible. iPod minis took off- maybe mia mini fenders might too- just for fun :)

Im looking at getting my 7yr old niece a mini or a hello kitty for christmas :)

Fender made the JUnior stratocaster in the 90s and in 2003-2004 i think ... now discontinued . it was made in mexico cause theres probably no big market for a 800 $ children guitar .. even at 350 $ for the strat junior mexico .. i dont hink they sold a lot .

too bad cause im really digging a 3/4 size guitar .

Hi Mike,

Slash prefers the Hello Kitty axe
for his legendary "Slash Tone".

Cheers.

Absolutely

For the other parent's in this thread - what age is appropriate to put their little hands on a guitar?

I have girls (4 & 6) whom I'm teaching Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" ( on a little First Act Acoustic Guitar - I just replaced the strings and tune it each time.

E B A B E B A B

Little hands - so cute!

I'm just learning now @ 36 - I made sure I got quality for myself - American Mahogany HSS strat, because I know how important it is to play something which feels right and inspires.

But at what point do I take that position with the girls?

8 years old? Should I have done it at 2 years old? Organogenesis?
