Try one in a guitar shop up there and see what you think. What one person thinks might be different from what you think.

I bought a 2009 American standard and it sounds great and looks great. It has the bullet strings which are suppose to better strings and are suppose to hold up better for heavy strumming and playing and not get out of tune as quick because of their design. Even though I'm not an expert, I would not agree with your statement. Other than nostalgia, I imagine the electronic pick up of today are light years beyond the electronics of the 60-70, just like your remote control tv and the pong video. Again, no expert here, but I was very impressed with my new strat even though it was on the pricey side

If the bullet strings disappoint me, I will give them a try, bit so far, I'm satisfied.

I went from d'addario to fender bullets. I am thinking of going back to d'Addario though. They are the only strings i can buy localy.

That's what I use on my Strats. I used to use the D'Addario's, but switched to the bulllets after buying my Highway 1. I loved the tone I got from them. I still use the D'Addario's on my daughter's Lace Huntington (Strat Clone).

I buy all my strings (Fender Bullets) on line, especially since they are about $4 cheaper on line than in the local guitar shop. $5.99 vs $11.00 (almost half off)
