I seem to be getting an annoying hum from my Strat.
Let me start over with the scenario, in my office at work, florescent lights overhead, amp on table, and computer on desk.
Is the guitar picking up electrical signals that are causing it to hum?

Most definitely yes. Individually all of those electrical devices will impart a bit of hum to your rig. Combined, you must be getting a very loud hum. I would imagine your guitar has very little screening as well as traditional single coil pups . There are several ways to reduce the interference brought on by outside electrical sources.
One is to protect the guitars innards with a screening paint (such as carbon graphite paint) applied to the internal cavities.
Another method is to apply a copper foil to the internal body routes as well as the back of the pickguard.
To find out more info on applying the shielding paint and foil please search this forum. You will find many topics covering screening.
Even after applying the pup cavity shielding you will still experience some hum. That is the nature of the single coil pup.
You may want to consider a noiseless single coil (which many times are stacked humbuckers). However many of these pups sound very singlecoil and Strat like.
One such pup that I really like is the Fender made SCN's Noisless pup. Many don't like this pup so you may want to try the Dimarzio Area series. Very nice pups. There are many others billed as noisless but you need to do some research to find what you would prefer.
