i was inspired by this setup from henry garza. i saw him playing with only a tube screamer, holy grail, and vox wah and he has one of the most beautiful guitar tones ive ever heard. i play a classic players 60s and i love the combination of these three pedals. its also a great way to get a nice guitar sound without splurging too much money. i play through a pretty crappy peavey amp but the spring reverb on the holy grail makes the thing sound pretty close to a fender tube amp. really cool. also the hall reverb and flerb settings on the grail are pretty cool to experiment with.

just some advice id kinda throw out there.

leave some pics of your set up or just let the forum know what you play through through this topic. id like to here what other players in the forum are playing concering pedals guitars and amps. cant wait to hear from you guys.

I'm a firm believer in smaller is better. A decent amp, od, chorus, nice axe.....thats about all I need. You don't need 10 pedals and a midi setup to sound good.

It doesn't get any more simple than this...although I am looking to get a delay pedal and a Bad Monkey.

Yankee that's what my setup looks like as well but it's a Highway One Strat. With the good reverb, the fat switch, the equalizer, the preamp I can get a lot of tone and a lot of variety out of my little Blues Junior at low loudness.

yeah. i play through a slightly more complicated setup. no midi stuff though.

my effect setup is as follows, in order from front of chain to end.

noise gate, tube screamer, boss ds-1 distortion, eq, delay, phaser, envelope filter, chorus, wah, volume, and a whammy. i didn't feel like listing all the specific names.

I play a strats, and run all that into a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade head, with a Marshall cabinet.

its slightly complicated, but it is what i like.

with all those effects though, you do need to have noiseless pickups, and a noise gate, cause the signal tends to get a little dirty through all that stuff.

wow, I want a classic players (like yours) and I have both vox wah and tube screamer. We have the same taste!!

By the way i use my Tele and Strat with my Wah and Tube Screamer (some times my E Clapton pedal too) and I put it through a Hot Rod Deluxe.

i love my holy grail. the reverb sounds great. i especially would recommend to guys who play fender amps, like a bassman or something, to try it out. my amp does not come with a reverb channel but the grail makes it sound awesome. if you want studio sound or just a nice reverb to play from day to day or live get it. i have been using it for almost a year now and i have not been able to play without it. i always have it on even when i practice. its good at taking out alot of the dry end sound and is also good at getting cool fender like reverbs. the hall reverb is a cool setting you can dial it up and get some really spacy sounds. i dont really use the flerb setting much but it is a cool effect if thats wat your looking for. they have a pedal demo of the pedal on youtube. just search "holy grail reverb" and a guy playing a deluxe players strat will be in it.
