The back trem area cover sucks tone and dampens the free moving vibrations of the body.

Doubtful, the only reason people take them off is because the guy before them took it off and the first guy to ever take it off probably didn't know why he took it off.

Mine never came with one. Problem solved for me.

Eric Johnson says take it off 8)

I also doubt everything you just said especially since you don`t even have a cover.

So happy for you.DH

If you think it sucks the tone then just take it off.

Was your original post a question or stating a fact? If you were asking for opinions then its not really cool to flame people when their opinion doesn't necessarily agree with yours.

Just my 2.5cents.

Cheers and peace man!

Mind you, it's gotta be the cheapest mod I can think of!

Lol. I have mine off because it feels more comfortable against my stomach  Like instead of the back plate I feel the wood instead. And if it improves tone, then that's just an added bonus 8)

Mine is on becasue when I had it off my stomach hair would get pinched in the tremolo springs and depilate me, causing me horrendous pain and jerky movements on stage...

If that were true, then why buy a guitar that uses a pickguard period? Wouldn't that also mean that guitars with no pickguard have better tone than one's that do?

I'm having a hard time believing it. It's just a piece of plastic screwed onto the wood.

I think some guys leave it off because they lose it after they change strings.

WOW ever thought of loosing the pickguard? After all theres more surface area covered by it, it must really take away from the guitars tone.
