I'd like to hear some feedback from those of you that own either a 50's Classic Players Strat or a 60's Classic Players Strat. How do the necks feel? I think the 50's version may have a little chunkier neck. Does the guitar feel like it's pretty solid overall? Does it feel like an upper tier Mexican? Is that two point bridge pretty good overall?

I have the Classic 50s Player in Shoreline Gold. The color doesn't look as good in person as it does in the photos, but the quality makes up for it. It feels as good as an American Strat to me...very high quality. It has a very warm sound...the pickups are wired a bit differently. It just feels very solid to me. I bought for $600 before the price hike. I'm not sure if I would spend $1000+ for it now, but it is my 3rd favorite Strat behind my SRV and my American Mahogany. The neck feels fine to me...I have average female-sized hands.

I own a Classic Player 60s Strat. The '69 pickups and the thick neck sold me on it. The CP 60s has the beefier neck. It's a 12 inch radius while the 50s is 9.5.

I have set up a few of them and they have been nice guitars. I did have one that had frets that had to be worked because of the buzz.

Odd. I was under the impression that the 60's version had a slimmer C style neck shape. It is C style but I guess it could be slim or thicker. I presumed the 50's version had a thicker more chunky neck. Let's not confuse radius with neck profile.

I'm kinda leaning towards trying a 60's version.

I've got a CP 50's and, quality-wise, I think its great - a few minor issues but nothing that couldn't be easily corrected. The neck is finished well and, frankly, this guitar is my favorite right now over my Am Deluxe. (That's because it has the right vintage sound for what I'm playing now -- the Am Deluxe is a couple steps up quality-wise.) The neck isn't as chunky as the Am Deluxe. I still think an Am Std is a step up from the CP50's quality- and component-wise except for the CP50's pups which I think are excellent. I got the CP50's for $545 so I'm way happy with it.

It's the Classic Series 60s Strat that has the typical 7.25 inch radius, C shape 60s neck. The Classic Player 60s was Custom Shop designed by Greg Fessler and has the thicker C shape neck.

I own a 1965 Stratocaster with a 7.25 inch C neck and trust me, the Classic Player 60s neck is much chunkier.

I have never played a Classic Player 50s Strat but I can vouch for the 60s. The '69 pickups are outstanding.

Some say that if you pick hard on a two point bridge you get a warble or flutter effect that is undesirable. I suppose this could happen if the string is vibrating so strongly that it is setting the bridge in motion.

Do any of you have this issue?

I'm certainly not Pete Townshend Jr. but I have never had a flutter or a warble from a two point bridge. It's a Custom Shop design and I figure those guys know what they're doing.

If you have three or less springs in your trem assy, lay your strat on its' back on a table. Focus your eyes close to the trem arm. pluck the low e with a pick and watch the slight flutter on the tip of the trem arm. A Tremsetter will correct this and other issues unique to the strat.

Ah, that's probably why I haven't seen any flutter. I always add a spring or two when I switch to heavier gauge strings. Thanks for the explanation.

The Shoreline Gold is nice, don't get me wrong. But, it has more of a gray/silver tint to it in the photos which looks nicer to me. I still love it though. I got mine at Musician's Friend. I haven't seen any in the Guitar Center stores when I have visited. It was probably my smartest purchase. Keep looking & good luck.
