This may be a dumb question to most of you, but can you get all of those wild Strat sounds of Jimi Hendrix and all those great bell like strat sounds of Buddy Holly out of one strat (my two all time favorite strat players). I am interested in the Vintage 62 and 57, also the Vintage Hotrods for better feel, or just a basic standard if it can get the job done just the same.

Does anyone suggest a particular type of strat with particular specs.

Well, yes, you can. Of course your amp is part of the sound as well as what preamps or effects you use.

I get fairly close 80% with my 09MIM with CS69 pups,

neck (neck+mid) + amp tweak + dig the strings = Hendrix;
mid+bridge + amp tweak + sensitive touch on strings = Buddy;

There is so much involved in your tone quest that your head will spin. Make your own musical voice and buy a Strat, if you don't have one, that will speak Buddy or Jimi and don't worry.

Hope that helps

Of course I can not play like Buddy or Jimi lol Not even on the same continent as those two.

I hear ya though. The 57' is sweet, but that neck scares me cause my hand tends to get slowed down from playing on the glossy maple neck which can get sticky. But it looks so good.

Is there a particualr amp that I should couple the strat with to get both sounds.

Im thinking one of these:
Marshall 1987XL
Marshall Bluesbreaker

Or

Fender Twin Reverb
Fender Delux Reverb
Fender Hotrod
Fender Blues series
