Do the necks that come on the Classic Player's 50's Strat and the 57 Vintage Hot Rod feel thick? They both come with what Fender calls soft V. I know the neck on my 62 Hot Rod Strat is nice and chunky feeling which I really like.

I was wondering about this soft V neck and how it compares if it's slimmer or close the same.

And can someone explain these Gotoh Vintage locking tuning machines that come on the Classic Player's 50's Strat? I've never used locking tuners so do you have to use them? Can you replace them with just normal Klusons?

The '57 Hotrod is different from the generic Fender soft V. It is slimmer. The '62 falls into the category of a C neck. In several discussions on this we suggest that you must play them yourself. I always recommend finding a vendor who has a Clapton, a '57HR and the other guitar of your interest, for this purpose. Nikininja and I have even gone so far as to compare measurements on these necks. They vary by several millimeters. It is really matter for an individual hand and personal preference. 8)

What about the neck on the Classic 50's Players Strat? That has a soft V shape. I imagine it would feel thicker than a 60's C shape.

..

Not as slender as the othe two but a different fullness from the '62. Fits the web area between thumb and index finger differently. You must play them .

I also would be concerned about the quality of the block. But I believe Callaham offers replacement blocks for the two point bridge.
