I took my am std strat for a setup (string gauge change, from 9's to 10's), and I feel it lost it's mojo. It sounds kinda thin and has less sustain, which is wierd, because I've just gone up a gauge.
One thing that I noticed, is that the bridge isn't flat against the body as it was before, it's pretty high now.. I wonder if the guitar tech forgot to put it flat again.. Does this have anything to do with it?

Just tighten the claw to pull the bridge back down to the body.

Wouldn't that mess with the intonation?

It sounds like the tech did not compensate for the additional string tension of the higher guage strings. That is a pretty major oversight on their part. I would return the guitar to the person who worked on it and discuss your problem, and they should set it up to your specs, or the very least, Fender factory specs.

i recently set up with 10s then i went to the split pack dadario offers, heavy strings 456 light 123. then i went back to 9s. just like the original set up. each change will require readjusting bridge and intonation. my total cost. $0.00.

this is a great time to start doing your own work. no one will take more interest in adjusting your axe than you. of course if you paid for the set up this time, take it back and make then adjust it to your satisfaction. this is a pretty large oversight on the side of your tech. i would imagine you had the bridge set on the deck for a reason. it should have been adjusted back there unless you asked for something different.

good luck, Jimmy b

Good advice given. Deffinetly bring it back and explain the situation as they should be able to fix this while you wait.
