Vinny did it occur to you to stop as the decal was vanishing or were you just compelled to go all the way front and back.lol The same decal is on a lot of Strats including the Clapton which I have and when I noticed it was not a clear over the logo and in fact a decal I stopped the minute I saw a slight mark and then checked to make sure this was right. Now this was years ago but why would you complete the removal of the front and then do the back.lol I am not joking there is a reality show in your future. Be good Vin

It's hard for me to see, but when I lightly rake my fingernail over my (American) Strat's decal it feels raised, suggesting it is not beneath the finish, although it certainly is flawless. I would never polish it with anything more than the Fender light dusting cloth that came with it.

Is not the slide under the finish on new Squier bullets?

I hope you didn't erase some of the tone. :D
On some guitars the decals are on top of the finish and are susceptible to damage. You need to be real careful with cleaning stuff. On my 72 Strat the decals under an inch of urethane. It's impervious to just about any chemical. I'm glad it's not too thick on the fretboard.

This is no decal just really cheaply stamped ink, I expected something a bit more robust but anyway its a nice guitar.

Vinney,

I am not sure how well the Squier Bullets are made. I just did not like the way they looked. My Squier CV is awesome. I would have to use sandpaper to rub off the Squier water slide and the SN on the back of the headstock. There is just too much varnish on the neck. I have been debating on whether to use some fine steel wool to scratch the back of the neck up a bit to let my thumb to slide a little easier, but I manage to do well as it is.

Gday rkreisher what does CV stand for I am learning about Squiers I think they are great guitars. My neck has virtually NO varnish lacquer at all was actually cleaning a few spots and marks with fine wet and dry sandpaper when I noticed how easily it was rubbing off, the neck is great and deserved at least a couple of coats of something. rkreisher can you please tell me the heirachy of the squiers from cheapest worst to the top level thanks mate how are you and nice to see you again mate blaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and twaaaaaaaaaaaa to you Vinny Pop

CV = "Classic Vibe". A premium series of guitars from Squier the quality, finish, and playability of which would rival many Fender models.

Cheers.
