Well since it has been brought up, for me nothing beats getting your new guitar home and opening up that case for the first time and looking at all the tags and sticker on her. It just puts a big smile on my face. I keep it that way for a few days before I rip everything off of it.

PRECISELY !

And hey, with good care, your guitar will stay new-looking for a long time.
All my dings came from just pure stupid negligence
(careless when changing strings, set-ups, etc.)

Pickguards are replaceable and inexpensive.
Just try not to drop it, drag it, or leave it in direct sunlight and keep her shined-up.
She'll look young forever.

Oh and...Strap locks.

If you leave the film on too long it gets nasty and is a pain to remove. If you are really intent on keeping the film on then find a second pick guard to use and put the original in a air tight/unlit place. Also even guitars that have almost 0 play get stratched or dinged some how. I owned two Gibsons I almost never playe and yet some how there were fine straches in the finish and other imperfections. Guitars don't live in vacuums. Things like light, air, oils from your hands and chemicals WILL change the appearence of guitar. You are fighting a losing battle.

Hey what about Stevie Ray Vaughan, I guess he was just some dumb hick that didn't know how to play as good as you, right. He had truck stop stickers on his Strat. I wonder if you could afford to buy that guitar with your mouth? Its a free country. If you want a sticker put a sticker, who are these nobody's to tell you what you can do. Get out here

The clear cover started pulling away so... Is it possible to remove, keep, and re-apply it later? Does a new pickguard comes with it?

No, it'll end up delaminating in places and if you pull it off it will stretch into trash.

The stickers will end up showing wear if not end up peeling at an edge if it's bumped with a harder surface... like a pick or whatever object is unlucky enough to hit it.

I know a lot of people never take the stuff off. I don't like stickers on something though... I'll pull them off. My really nice bike rims had stickers on them, I took those off too. lol
