Hey gang,
I'm looking to replace my 2003 MIM 70's reissue Strat's pickguard; nothing major, just going with a white pearl in place of the standard white. On this site they list the white pearl guard as fitting a number of diffenrent American models as well as my MIM model. When they say it will fit, are they talking ONLY about the pickguard itself, or do they also mean the screw holes will line up as well? From all of the photos of both the Fender "official" guards as well as a few I've seen on other sites, the hole placements look the same - it was my understanding from a post on this site, that with 11 hole guards, it's the hole closest to the selector switch that can be different on different models.
I really don't want to drill new holes if I can help it- and my main concern with that would be the possibility of "devaluing" the stock guitar if say 20 years down the road I wanted to sell it. Any suggestions, clues, help?

As long as you stick to the standard 11 hole config it should be a fit no problem - especially if you go with either a Fender or other good quality p'guard (Warmoth, Callaham, etc.) I've changed dozens of pickguards and never had to redrill any holes as long as it was a good quality guard. Even if you did have to drill a hole it would not devalue a guitar that much, especially a reissue...

P.S. If you get a pickguard that's made for a pre-CBS reissue style strat (50's & 60's) you will have issues as the holes are different on these guitars...
