WTF!!! Janie Hendrix Introduces The New Hendrix Model Guitar – A Gibson Family of Brands. According to Janie, JH used a Flying V in the Isle of Wright concert...never saw a copy this concert, myself.
Interesting, in this article there are four pics of Jimi...three bust (chest/head) shots. The fourth shows Jimmy rocking on his Strat...

Jimi played lots of guitars and he did use a Gibby Flying V. I never saw him burn a Gibson LOL.
People need to get over it. Janie Hendrix can do what ever she wants. Jimi was not exclusive to Fender.

Also the topic of another current thread.

Know that you will too find a Les Paul among the collection of Hendrix played guitars in his exhibit at the EMP in Seattle

I've seen pictures of him with a Korina Flying V and a black, Bigsby-equipped LP custom. Apparently he owned a handful of pre- and post-war Martins as well.

The longstanding supposition is that FMIC will not pay the premium Jani wants to use JH's name on a strat. Given her penchant for greed, the abhorrent way she has treated her brother Leon (who JH knew and loved). The fact that JH never knew her, and that she's running that estate not on the promise to uphold Jimi's name. As promised when she won the rights to Jimi's material.

For that reason alone i boycott any Jani Henderiks products, yes I even refuse to call her Hendrix.

EDIT: I'm not supporting Gibson. Its obviously just the money... Lets face it, he only had a Gibson like we all do as a dust collector or something.
He picked them up for a couple of songs and then put 'em down.

I'm sure that between Ceri, Nikininja, Snowy, Rumba, and yourself, you could turn it into Texas. :P Give it a go, mate

Doc

He was a guitarist he had guitars. Whats the ordeal. The fact that he used a strat for the majority of his unearthly sounds seems like common sense to me. The strat was a otherworldly instrument right from its conception. Buddy Holly was a pioneer of a style, hendrix another for another style, then the 70's/80's and superstrats. Its a design that has evolved and mutated but constantly pushed boundaries. I cant help wonder what the next incarnation will be.

Its all very different to Gibson's guitar ethic. Ok they had the explorer and V in 58. Aside from shape there was nothing really groundbreaking about them.Certainly nothing soundwise that wasnt available out of a les paul, thereabouts. Gibson started making traditional guitars (acoustics) mando's and banjo's. They have maintained that air of traditional builder and its a lot of the reason their customers like em.

Jimi had a danelectro too. The guy loved guitars, just like all of us. He had the money to have whatever he wanted when he could pin jeffreys down, and bought what took his fancy. This current model is in no way a sign of Jimi favouring gibson over fender. Its simply Jani Hentricks making more money. It will sell no better or worse than the fender hendrix models. Bought by collectors and of little use to a gigging musician who wants to be taken seriously.

Boycott Jani products, shes a evil cow. She should of let Leon sell vodka and smoke crack.

Well :!: You certainly are passionate about this one, mate. I hope that should circumstances find you in Seattle some day, you won't allow this to keep you from the EMP. Would truly be a missed opportunity.

Well despite popular opinion I'm quite the Hendrix fanboy. I just dont like the way Jani ran that business and promoted her transient father who abandoned and didnt want to know Jimi until he could get some money out of him. Then she uses all the underhanded tactics she could muster to get Al to leave her all the business and shut leon out.
What would Jimi say about that. He adored his younger brother. He never even met Jani.

Niki, you beat me to it.. Dano and Silvertone. Virtually the same thing.
Jimi was a MUSICIAN. Musicians use guitars as tools, not status symbols or this or that is the best and that's it. He always searched for things that were sonically unique. A guitarist who plays one brand of guitar only is cheating himself. Even SRV played a double neck Dano and still sounded like SRV.

The Danelectro Corporation was located in New Jersey in the 50's. They contracted with Sears to supply the guitar with the 'Silvertone' mark.
