I want to replace the 3-way selector switch on my '57 Ltd. Edition Stratocaster with the 5-way one... Is there a guide on exactly how to do this anywhere? I have the wiring schematics... I assume I have to solder.

Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

As long as you've got a good wiring schematic, some rosin core solder and iron, and a 5 way switch you sould be good to go. Make sure you get a non import 5 way switch - the imports are sometimes laid out differently and it might be confusing trying to match solder points, not to mention the switch tip and screw size difference .
As long as there's enough wire to do so I usually unscrew the old switch from the pickguard while it's still connected and move it to the side , mount the new one to the pickguard, then disconnect one wire at a time and reconnect it to the new switch - if you unsolder everything at once you might get confused on how to reconnect it to the new switch even with a schematic. Did you get your schematic off the Fender site? If not then print one off the site as they are much easier to read than some others out there...

If the guitar has a standard open frame 3-way switch and the new switch is a standard open frame 5-way switch you wire the new switch exactly the same as the old one. The switches are the same except with two extra detents added on the 5-way switch.

Take a couple of close digital pics of the existing wiring and use it as a guide to wire the new one.

You can even do a switch-aroo like in the above post. :)
