the drummer is very loud and overbearing 8) He couldn't bring it down a notch if his life depended on it. He thinks he's Keith Moon or something

I have seen the Used Marshall Valvestate AVT50 in the $200-$300 range. Thats why I was looking into them. Simply because the price is right.

Whats the deal with that series? They are not all tube nor are they all Solidstate. Can someone explain this series to me?

I was also looking into the Fender Deluxw "Hotrod" series. I can find those in the right price range. What do you all think of the Deluxe series amps by Fender?

The Fender Hot Rods are great powerful amps, in my view far better than the Valvestate

The Hot Rods are not reliable. Just look at posts even on this forum. You can do a lot better for the money. They are not powerful or great. They are no louder than any other 40 or 60 watt tube amp. Last weekend I cut the mix better with my Egnater and it's only 20 watts. The other guy had a HRDlx. I sold mine just because of all the headaches it gave me. Plus, it's not a classic Fender sound of any kind. Sorry, here I go again. I'm off my soapbox.

If you like the 4-10 setup maybe a 59 Bassman reissue might be the ticket.Really nice overdrive sound and real reliable. Its 45 watts , which is close to 50.If your drummer doesnt settle down ,get a twin and really make him pay  .Just kidding .

I believe Intrument Pro still carries the AVT50 new. You can buy and try it and if you don't like it send it back.
