I just purchased a used Fender MIJ Strat 12 guitar (2009 Vintage). It came with a hardshell rectangular shaped metal case that I have never seen before. It has the Fender logo attached and the outside looks like brushed alluminium diamond plate with chrome plated corner protectors. It has a German LogikTechnik Stil locking latches and a combination lock built in. The inside looks like it was made for a regular Strat. I have never seen a case like this before. It looks like it was made for air flight specification. It is really heavy! Can anyone tell me anything about this case? Is it a Custom Shop product or what? The dealer doesn't know and won't let me contact the previous owner. I would appreciate any information. Thanks.

Thanks guys. Sorry the pictures were so large. I just learned how to post them and forgot to resize. I am still trying to find out what I can on this case. Let me know if you learn anything. I may sell it and get an SKB or something.

The inside of the case is black. It is the same soft plush material as other Fender cases. I will try to attach a picture. I found out that the case is a Scott Dixon brand ATA case made for Fender in 2007. It was sold by Guitar Center new for $349. It is made to military specs for flight durability.

It might very well be a collector item as time goes on. Hang on to it. Nice.

Did you pay a premium on the guitar because of the special case?

I paid a fair price for the guitar. When the salesman brought out the case, even he was surprised at the upscale case that went with it. The guy that traded in the guitar I bought must have been a professional musician that was planning on doing a lot of traveling. I think I am going to put it on Craig's List and just buy an SKB.

I have 5 of these cases and they are made by Scott Dixon in the UK. I'm not sure of they are still made as they concentrate on gear for touring bands so make 3 instrument cases.

Like others who've already stated, I've never seen anything like that.
I want one .... or three.

Contacted Scott Dixon in UK and their US contact to ask if still available. FWIW, thought I'd share.

Currently they are pretty much a custom case maker focused on 3-guitar flight case for touring bands. There is no stock (NOS) of single cases laying around anywhere. They will make one as a one-off. It would not have the Fender badge (obviously.)

$205 pounds (british sterling) I was told I was getting artist pricing. At $1.43 conversion that's $297 US. Shipping will vary based on location, for me (Ohio/USA) another 73 pounds ($104 US) Bottom line = $400 delivered to midwest / USA.
