Hi guys, greetings from Montreal. I just bought a American Deluxe Stratocaster aged cherry burst maple neck ash body...and i love it !!!

I was a Gibson fan all my life, my first good quality guitar i bought was a SG-1 1972 in 1985 (that i still have) when i was 16 for $350. Now i just turned 40 so i decided to treat myself with a new axe, my first choice was a Les Paul Standard...tried it, hated the sound and the price too freakin' expensive for what you get. So began shopping for something else, and ended up ordering this fine instrument 'cause the store did'nt carry any Deluxe's.

Two months later my baby is in and is now my #1 axe, the Gibson is in it's case in the closet with my other axe, a Godin Freeway Floyd and will stay there for a while...

I got one last week and I've never been so immediately in love with a new guitar!!! THE sound I had been looking for. Can't imagine or want for anything else. Now it's just finding the perfect amp/speaker.

I was up for a new guitar about 12 months ago. I tried a few gibsons and a few fenders. I just plum didnt like the feel of the gibsons. im a small guy and they are heavy. they also just didnt feel right in my hand. Awesome guitars, and I will own one someday, but it didnt feel right to me at the time.

I tried some Am Standards and Am Deluxe's. As i wanted something with clarity of single coil strats, but versatility to give me some humbucker fatness, i went with the S1 on the deluxe. with the S1 turned on, you get a much rounder fatter tone, not quite humbucker, but not far off it either. with the S1 turned off, its a fender strat through and through, but with zero hum or hiss. its just an awesome guitar.

My next guitar in a few years will be an olympic white Am Std strat with rosewood fretboard, just cause i like the style, but il never get rid of the Am Dlx. its simply an awesome guitar. As i always advise, go to a store and play an AmDlx and AmStd side by side and see what suits YOU best.

Best guitar is one that sounds best to you!( eg, when getting a tele, i played AmDlx, Std, Mex, Hw1 and didnt like any of them but fell in love with....a squire classic vibe tele!!! 1/4 of the price of most of the others but twice the guitar of any of the others, at least for me!)
