Hello again peoplez,

I have another dilemma and you are always so helpful. I am going to purchase a hot rod deluxe tomorrow but I saw a Fender 65 Reissue for the same price on ebay. I have already played the Hot Rod Deluxe and love it but the 65 looks very tempting. I know one of you out there must have one. If so, how is it and how does it compare to the deluxe?

Thank you

~Gem

I would post this over in the "Fender Amps: 1985-Current forum".

HRD... Ok, where's 63Supro?

Check out the demos here: http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0217400000

Also a good long demo of the DRRI here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBXntqgPo6Q&feature=related

And a demo of the HRD here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PvFumhjZOo&feature=related

I guess it depends on what you're going to use the amp for. If you want channel switching, the DRRI doesn't have that. However, the DRRI is a much better constructed and designed amp. Higher quality speaker too. Also keep in mind that if you buy that HRD new you're going to lose about 40% of it's value on the used market should you ever sell. I assume the DRRI in question is already used so... Smart money is on the DRRI.

Years ago I had a bandmaster reverb that went in the shop. They loaned me a used blackface Deluxe reverb for a gig I had. That little amp kicked $@!. It was a loud as my Bandmaster and the sound was killer. I was a little sad that they fixed my amp. I wished I had bought it but when I had enough money it had been sold. I been looking for one since. If the reissue is even close I'd buy it. They sell for more new. And if you look up a few reviews I think they smoke hrd's

I've been reading alot of reviews and I'm starting to like the DRRI better. Its 22watts which is perfect for my apartment complex.

Thanks for the vids Toast Man

I think I'm in love with the Deluxe Reverb

Yeah, I just sat there and watched through both of the PGS demos on the DRRI and the HRD and I have to say the DRRI totally smokes the HRD.

As someone who owns a HR Deville (pretty much identical to the HRD except 60 watts) I can tell you that the volume knobs are very touchy on the HRD and if you live in an apartment you'll probably never get it past "1".

I was going to buy a HRD from craigslist because there so cheap but after watching the videos I'll spend an extra 200 for the DR.

The DRRI is amazing. I've had mine for about a year now and still can't get over how good it sounds.

Oh, the DRRI is still pretty darn loud, just so you know. I live in a condo and I usually only turn it up to 3 which is fairly loud. I've had her on 8 before for a short time, and luckily no one called the cops.

I had a short period where the sound of Fender amps was not doing anything for me. Bought my forst Tele and it did not sound quite right except thru a Fender amp of any type.
WHen I switched over I thought I like the Reissue Reverb but got caught by a Limited HRD. I like the HRD but every time I go to a store to "test drive" a new axe, I always plug into a Reissue if they have one. Guess that one is next on my list....if I could only justify another amp. Can you say G.A.S.???? Sure, I knew ya could!!
Bottom line if I was doing it again.....Reissue!!!! No question. Unless you want to have a foot switch between clean and mean of course then HRD
