Ok guitar geeks, here's one for you. I have a 50 Anniv MIM Strat with stock Tex Mex's and a Lil 59 in the bridge, plus a 500k volume pot. With or without an amp, I always get an unwanted vibrato sound on the 3 string, 12-15th fret.

I local guitar tech told me the pups were too high so I lowered all 3 of them almost to the point of being flush with the plate. No change...

I hooked up the strobe tuner to check intonation, all is perfect.

I check for loose hardware, swapped strings, no change.

The vibrato sound is faint. You can hear it if you rest your head against the body and plug the string and you can really hear it when amplified.

Any ideas?

Hi Rsegundo

it could be a number of things causing the problem, string height, saddle condition, noisy trem springs, even a loose scratchplate. Its hard to determine without physicaly handling the guitar. 1st thing i'd do is take it to some different tech. If all he suggested was pickup height and didnt adjust and check for free, ditch him. Its the work of seconds to keep a customer happy.
