Fellow forum friends, here is the dilemma that I have. I have a beautiful Custom Shop 56' Time Machine Strat and I'm stuck between two tube amplifiers, both which are well built tube monsters; however, I can't decide. If you've played either of these or both, please offer your thoughts. It's between the Mesa-Boogie Lone Star Special vs. Dr. Z. MAZ-18 JR. I actually played the Lone Star and it blew me away, the tone on overdrive was ridiculous, warm and soaked with blues tone. I've heard Buddy Whittington play blues through a Dr. Z amp and that sounded amazing. So I have a sense that it will come down to features and be largely subjective. Any thoughts on either amp or brand would be appreciated. Thanks!
