thanks for all the feedback everyone. I was basing the prices off of gbase

http://www.gbase.com/stores/gear/gearli ... ratocaster

I think I am going to hold off and look a round a bit more. I have $800 and want to put it into a Strat, but I want to make sure I am getting the best deal possible. The real draw of that one was it is an older somewhat vintage strat and the color. But based on the feedback on here I'd be better served to hold off and make sure I know what i am getting.

maybe this has something to do with the reason the guy was hesitant to take it apart? heh

I've never seen a bridge like that on a Fender. Never.

There's a guy selling a black one in my area for $799

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/msg/1380729585.html

Looks like one sold on ebay for $611, looks a lot like the one you were looking at.

yeah i talked to the guy and told him i wanted to think some more, at this point there seems to be more iffy feedback and potential that it isn't exactly as listed for me to drop $800. thanks for all the info everyone.

Hi dbr2026: just to re-emphasise, I see nothing doubtful whatsoever about the guitar. I'm sure it is completely legit. (See earlier posts.)

The only issues are price and the features of that particular model, which might not be to the taste of some.

Of course, the seller is allowed to ask any price for it he chooses - but it seems likely that if you indeed want that model you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

Good luck - C

see i was more or less digging the fact that is was an early 80's Strat and that color, I love that creamy butter looking color. I was surprised if it was a real Strat that it was that cheap. Im not sold on that particular model and would rather have one that isnt the "second series" like this one. But it just played so nicely i was a bit torn on what decision to make! :-(
