Not quite hitting the mark on location. Which page # of the run is it?
BTW: Did you notice their asking for a used '57 Hotrod. They sell new for more than twice the price. I can imagine what they gave in trade for it

Sorry - Good observation - I was going to post a note about this. The GC used guitar site has a habit of moving things from page to page. I'm not sure I'd call it a "bug" because it really forces you to dig through the merch!

Found it: Definitely not a Fender product IMHO. Headstock has the look of the old Fernandes. Probably mystery wood and who knows what else.

Right - another posted similar - It's obvious to me now. Originally, I glanced at it and I think I added (or subtracted) the dark piece holding the neck to the headstock as the headstock

I wouldn't mind a performer in nice shape - I wonder what they sound like. Cool, freaky looking guitar. Cobain should have played this instead of the Jagstang... it was too contrived for his attitude IMO.

Performers
I love them
Reasonnable price and great sound
In normal position they sound closer to a Jazzmaster than to a Strat , a sound with a lot of body. 24 frets .
When split it delivers brighter sounds but nothing like a Tele.
C neck. easy to play.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to highjack this thread but..

Sounds like you have it? Is it 25.5" sale and similar neck to a strat?

It? He has some (if memory serves).

Far be it from me to post a picture of one of Alain's Performers. Let's hope he comes back and does that for us.

Tasty guitars...

Ah back here
The Performers were delivered in 5 colours.
They were MIJ in 1986 when Fender had no plant in the USA
They were designed by John Page to react against the growing competition of Superstrats. 24 frets,25 1/2scale, two splittable humbuckers, TBX
Here they are :
Gun Metal Blue

Sherwood Green Metallic

Burgundy Mist

Pearl White

and Sunburst

I just played one to give a better report on their sound
Now my wife calls me for dinner ( Time difference)

I've checked everywhere and haven't seen a single one. These photos are fabulous. These beauties and the one in my Fender 50th Anniversary book are all I've seen.

How would one even begin to find a Performer?

Here's where I look - ebay, craigslist, GC used, Chris Guitars, Junky Daddys, Musicgoround... are there any other good hunting grounds that you might want to share? I'd understand if you chose not to. 8)

I've seen several on eBay in the past month or so. I guess you just have to be patient.

I just went to eBay...

Advanced search - Fender Performer - completed listings - there's about a half dozen or so that show up.

Thanks for the info RickyD - I'll check it out. I see what you mean. WOW that sunburst was sweet. I must tell myself "get back old man!"
