Then why would they range in price from $79 to $1,000. Where, on the guitar, would it say that it was made in Fullerton?

A Fullerton can be identified by neck date or the body stamp, any time after '85-'86. I don't think any strat made there would be only worth 79-1000, unless it was fake. why are you asking?

I would love a link, or pics please.

what do you mean by fullerton strat exactly. do you mean that is the model name, or what? you're very confusing. Fullerton was one of the original factories. that is all. I believe the only strats made were:

Early '80s '57/'62 reissue stratocasters and '52 reissue telecasters

the 2007 George Fullerton Masterbuilt Stratocaster

George Fullerton was one of the original members of the fender team (he helped Leo design the strat. RIP) back in the early 50s

just please be clearer on what you want to know.

I've been messing with strats for about 10 years now. I've seen the Fullerton combo.

I ask because I've never heard of a Fullerton Strat for $80 and I would like to know more.

Don't frett - I'll just call GC if I see the guitar again on their used site!

If I can find a pic I'll link the GC page.

Hi Strataholic: in one sense a Fullerton Strat is any that was made at that factory, which is where Fender were based from the early days till the plant was "lost" during the buy out from CBS in 1985.

However, I've also heard the phrase "Fullerton Strat" used to describe the '57 and '62 Reissue Strats (and '52 RI Teles) that they started making in 1982 under Dan Smith's guidance, in an attempt to recapture the magic of their golden era. (They hadn't made reissues before that.) Since the plant was closed in 1985 a "Fullerton Strat" in that sense would be a Reissue made between 1982 - 85.

This page might help:

Cheers - C

Thanks to all for the info. If I come across it again, I'll dig deeper and I'll post my findings here.

Google "Fullerton ST3" and you'll find a strat copy that can sell for as low as $45 ...

Not quite hitting the mark on location. Which page # of the run is it?
BTW: Did you notice their asking for a used '57 Hotrod. They sell new for more than twice the price. I can imagine what they gave in trade for it

Sorry - Good observation - I was going to post a note about this. The GC used guitar site has a habit of moving things from page to page. I'm not sure I'd call it a "bug" because it really forces you to dig through the merch!
