Any input on the strats that come out of Mexico. I was looking at what is called a DELUXE Issue of one. Nice looking, sounded good but the sales person really didn't answer my question as to the quality of the guitar...Any thoughts??

In my opinion there's absolutely nothing wrong with Mexican stratocasters my Strat. is a Standard and it works fine the quality is a bit less though and you won't be able to sell it for too much. The American Stratocasters cost more because they have the improvements Fender came up with whereas the Standard stratocasters have the original parts that Fender used.

Nothing wrong with mim Strats. If the guitar feels, sounds and looks good go for it! It's still a Strat and it will stand up to a ton of abuse.

I'm a big fan of MIM strats, particularly the Classic Series guitars.

MiMs are great. Build quality is good and overall the range is very good value, and most models are nearer to the Leo's original than most MiA offerings.

I actually chose an MiM Std over an American Std: I had the money for the latter but don't like the bridge, wider neck etc.

Right now my favorite Strat is a MIM Jimmie Vaughan. I also really like my Am. Ser. Both do have Rio Grande pickups in them (except the JV has the original Tex Mex Bridge pup).

The MIM's are good guitars. A great value for the money. With a proper setup they can play and sound as well as their American/Japanese made sisters.

The leaders of the Mexico factory have relay somehow captured the sole of fender and somehow improved the strat to the next level. 2006 will go down in history as a pivotal year for fender because of it!

Bra v O Fender and especially Fender Mexico!!!!!

MIM's are okay.
I just like the fact that MIA's are all handsanded and handwound pickups, as opposed to a mexican assembly line.

Look man: if it plays, sounds, and looks good, GO FOR IT. Trust me, you get a lot af bang for you buck. If you decide to pass on this particular one, look on eBay. They usually for for around $250 + shipping, and often have some other goodies to go with the guitar (cable, strap, stand, case, extra strings, etc.).
