There must be a good reason why that option was disabled... perhaps there's a plan to reinstate PMs at some stage. It hasn't really been that long since the forums were open 24 hours, so maybe the powers that be are just rolling things out gradually.

Most people who what to be contactable will have an email or chat ID somewhere in their default post replies.

Thanks for the reply! I thought maybe I had an incorrect setting in my profile or that there was a minimum post count or something. I've seen guys talk about PM'ing each other, but I guess that is through email.

heh... yes, I've noticed people mentioning PMs, but I think they all make the same discovery as you and shrug it off. Unless they're granted after a certain number of posts... nah, it can't be. Certainly there have been posts made every so often that would have been better as private messages, or not made at all.
