Maybe the reason Fender charges $949 for them is because of the extra time and work they have to put it to make it look reliced. After all time figures into the price of anything.

Nah its a machine relic job as opposed to the customshop hand relic. You can tell by how generic the relic patterns are. Theres no way it should cost the $4-500 the customshop charges.

O.K. I'm confused. So you pay almost 1K for a guitar that has been pre destroyed at the factory "new" however, when for sale second hand it costs less? Shouldn't the price go up if it happens to have more dings and scratches in it from the original owner?

Sorry if this doesn't make sense. The whole relicing thing makes my head hurt. :x

Wow, I thought I was the only person who took pride in the fact that my old guitars still look about as good as they did new. I still like the new look...am I old school or what. I actually take care of my equipment so it looks new many years later. Every scratch or bump makes me cringe and almost cry, not happy

I don't get it. (sarcasm on)I just bumped my $1000 guitar against the door and it has this cool scratch now. I think I will do it again ;) (sarcasm off)

Just doesn't seem smart to me, it sounds like a line from dumb and dumber

I was thinking, most likely Fender uses bodies that are not 100 percent condition, like stuff they would reject for other guitars to use on these IE if they get damaged during production etc they get sent to be made into road worns.
.

Good point!
