Love my new Baja tele brought home today but it has caused serious ructions already...

Fave classic player deluxe strat now relegated to second best and does not like it - there is jealousy! Thank the lord all other guitars know their place, and all happily and contentedly subordinate to the Martin Custom. Strat now wants cosmetic surgery as follows:

a) rewire button that adds bridge pickup to positions 4 & 5 to add neck pickup to positions 1 & 2 instead

b) add GFS Clapton mid-boost

c) add Baja tele neck instead of skinny rosewood boarded c-shaped neck (or at least a strat neck with same shape/depth)

I have the see-through sapphire blue one (curiously now with a slight dark green hue becoming apparent) with tortie plate, and I think the vintage tinted Baja neck can only be a positive addition.

My question: can anyone foresee any problems with these personalisations to an otherwise awesome guitar?

Supplementary question: can the Baja switch be rewired so that the neck pickup is at position 4 with the mixes at positions 2 & 3?

All replies welcome please, and apologies if these questions have been covered elsewhere. Thanks folks, its good to be here...

Maybe you could find martian, our guitar electronics guru. Look for him on the pickups forums and the main forum. Sounds like you have some nice guitars there!

Good luck though...

Thank you so much for such a prompt reply - I've been a Leo fanatic for as long as I can remember, but a duffer when it comes to playing really. New year resolution is to start the Learn and Master Guitar programme in earnest to do the axes justice. I think I'm going to be at home here...

Welcome!

Yes, as no matter how important, relevant and superior they may be, a prospective buyer may find them useless for said prospective buyer's requirements. As a rule, any alterations, no matter how 'wonderful' they may be, usually devalue an instrument's resale as the universal gauge is by it being all OEM.

Please rephrase, stating at which position of the selector you want what to do what.

As Martin stated, you have to make sure the modifications you do to your guitar suit your needs...If you plan on any future resale of the guitar or if the guitar series sky-rockets in value, yours may not be included because of the modifications you do. If you can live with that...make that guitar your own.
